Fibre Surveyor - contract role
Location: Ireland - nationwide but mainly South-West of Ireland (Galway, Limerick, Cork, Kerry, Clare)
Duration: at least 12 months
Contract Rate: 230-250 Euros Per Day depending on experience
This is a contract role so you would be self employed and need to have your own vehicle, be able to provide certain tools and organise your own accommodation if working away from home.

As a Fibre Surveyor, you will be part of an existing Fibre survey team, working collectively and collaboratively to achieve the goals of the project under the guidance from the Survey Supervisor.
This will predominantly be a site-based position - possibly nationwide across Ireland but mainly within South-West Ireland (Galway, Limerick, Cork, Kerry, Clare) depending on timing of work allocations and customer priorities.
Overnight stays and travel to and from site is an integral part of the job.
Role Requirements
The role is to survey telegraph poles and telecoms chambers, identifying special engineering difficulties.
Key tasks:
- Adhere to Client specific procedures and specification
- Carry out risk assessments on site prior to work commencing and report any visible hazards or defects from site by way of a “red flag” early warning system
- Validate the project designs and note any issues or special engineering difficulties (SEDs)
- Accurately record all site information
- Act responsibly when attending a survey and always be professional, safety conscious and conscientious always both on and off site
- Liaise with all those involved on site at survey including local authority representatives, landowners, council officials and any other 3rd party
- Be familiar with use of devices & Apps such iPads or similar PDAs
- Liaise with and update the Survey Supervisors and design teams
- Adhere to mandatory Health & Safety legislation without exception
Competencies
- Underground and overhead experience of Utility networks
- Underground; jointing, rodding/roping experience useful but not essential
- Overhead: experience of poling, providing connections to customers houses as well as maintaining and surveying existing poles and connections useful but not essential
- Knowledge and experience of trenching, ducting, cabling, poling, earthing etc
Skills, experience and qualifications (preferred)
- Experience in a similar FTTX network rollout
- Valid SafePass & Manual Handling
- MUST BE PC literate - surveys will need to be completed on iPads (or similar), via a map design app
